Souvenir Packages

Navigation

1. Introduction

Souvenir Packages are a type of container in Counter-Strike, which commemorate specific matches from official Major tournaments. Souvenir packages do not require a key to open and contain exclusive "souvenir" quality skins with unique stickers pre-applied. When opening a souvenir package the player will receive a weapon skin from the map's associated collection played in the selected match. These skins are unique due to their pre-applied gold stickers, which typically include:

  • The logos of both competing teams
  • The event logo
  • A map-specific sticker

Souvenir skins can't be used in trade-up contracts.

2. How to get Souvenir Packages

Since the StarLadder Berlin Major in 2019, the method to acquire souvenir packages has changed. Players now need to purchase a Viewer Pass for the ongoing Major tournament. The Viewer Pass is available in two versions: the base pass, or a bundle that includes three Souvenir Tokens. By completing in-game challenges, such as the Pick'Em predictions, players can upgrade their event coin from Bronze to Diamond. Progressing the coin grants up to three Souvenir Tokens, which can be redeemed for souvenir packages from completed matches of the player's choice. Additional Souvenir Tokens can also be purchased directly from the in-game store for the duration of the Major, allowing players to redeem an infinite number of packages beyond those earned through coin upgrades.

3. How do Pick'em Challenges work?

Pick'Em Challenges are the way to upgrade a CS2 Major coin, which unlocks Souvenir Tokens for redeeming Souvenir Packages. These challenges are tied to predicting match outcomes during a Counter-Strike Major tournament. Here's a clear breakdown of how they work:

Coin Progression: Upon activating a Viewer Pass, you automatically receive a Bronze coin. Upgrading to Silver, Gold, or Diamond coins requires completing challenges to earn points:

  • Bronze: Awarded upon Viewer Pass activation (no Souvenir Tokens, except for passes including 3 tokens).
  • Silver: Requires 3 points.
  • Gold: Requires 6 points.
  • Diamond: Requires all 9 points.

Challenge Points: Each challenge is worth 1 point. Failing a challenge prevents earning a Diamond coin but doesn't block progress toward Silver or Gold. Accessibility: Players with an activated Viewer Pass can achieve a Silver coin by simply submitting Pick'Em predictions, even if all predictions are incorrect. Challenges vary by Major but typically involve predicting outcomes across tournament stages.

5. Additional Information on Map Collections

As mentioned in the introduction souvenir weapon skins correspond to the type of package which is opened. If a player opens a Mirage Souvenir Package, they will receive a weapon skin from the Mirage Collection. Through the years these collections have been updated with newer weapon skins. The souvenir package will correspond to the newest version of the map's collection when the package was originally added to the game. For example, the Berlin 2019 Mirage Souvenir Package will use the original Mirage Collection. With Operation Riptide, the 2021 Mirage Collection was released, which packages since then have used. But there are exceptions to this rule. The DreamHack 2013 and the EMS One 2014 packages. Instead of using the weapon collections from the Active Duty Group, these packages are non-specific and use a variety of collections from numerous maps across different modes.
